Canesten Thrush 150mg Capsule is a convenient, single-dose oral treatment for vaginal thrush. It works from within to clear the infection and relieve symptoms such as itching, irritation, and discomfort.
Canesten Thrush Oral Capsule contains fluconazole 150mg, an antifungal medicine used to treat vaginal thrush (vulvovaginal candidiasis) and associated external symptoms. It targets the Candida yeast that causes itching, soreness and abnormal discharge, providing convenient single-dose relief.
Use only if a healthcare professional has previously confirmed you have thrush and your symptoms are the same as before.

Fluconazole disrupts the cell membrane of Candida yeast, stopping growth and clearing infection. Taken by mouth, it reaches the vaginal tissue via the bloodstream to treat the infection from within.
Suitable for:
Adults 16-60 years with previously diagnosed thrush who recognise their symptoms
Do not use if:
You’re allergic to fluconazole or any capsule ingredient
You have fever, lower tummy pain, foul-smelling discharge, ulcers/sores, irregular bleeding, or symptoms that differ from previous episodes – seek medical advice first
You’re under 16 or over 60 without medical guidance
You are pregnant or trying for a baby (seek medical advice). Breastfeeding is usually compatible but check with a healthcare professional
Interactions (check before use): warfarin/anticoagulants, certain statins, phenytoin, sulfonylurea diabetes tablets, erythromycin, rifampicin, and other medicines that affect the liver or heart rhythm.
Swallow one capsule (150mg) with water, with or without food.
Most people feel improvement within 1-3 days.
If no improvement after 7 days, or symptoms return within a short time, seek medical advice.
Consider treating a male partner’s external symptoms with clotrimazole cream to reduce re-infection.
Avoid sexual intercourse or use condoms until symptoms settle; thrush treatments can weaken latex.

Common: headache, nausea, stomach upset, diarrhoea, rash.
Stop use and seek help if you get signs of allergy (wheezing, facial swelling, widespread rash), severe skin reactions, yellowing of skin/eyes (liver problems), irregular heartbeat, or persistent/worsening symptoms.

Store below 25°C in a dry place.

Do not use after the expiry date.
How fast does it work?
Many feel relief within 24-72 hours; full resolution can take up to 7 days.
Can I take another capsule?
Only if advised by a clinician. Recurrent thrush (≥2 episodes in 6 months) needs medical assessment.
Can I use it with an external cream?
Yes. Pairing with Canesten 2% Cream can soothe external itching while the capsule treats the cause.
Is it for men?
This capsule is for vaginal thrush. Men with external thrush can use clotrimazole 2% cream unless otherwise advised.
