How Canesten Thrush 150mg Oral Capsule Works
Fluconazole disrupts the cell membrane of Candida yeast, stopping growth and clearing infection. Taken by mouth, it reaches the vaginal tissue via the bloodstream to treat the infection from within.

Adults 16-60 years with previously diagnosed thrush who recognise their symptoms
Do not use if:

You’re allergic to fluconazole or any capsule ingredient

You have fever, lower tummy pain, foul-smelling discharge, ulcers/sores, irregular bleeding, or symptoms that differ from previous episodes – seek medical advice first

You are pregnant or trying for a baby (seek medical advice). Breastfeeding is usually compatible but check with a healthcare professional
Interactions (check before use): warfarin/anticoagulants, certain statins, phenytoin, sulfonylurea diabetes tablets, erythromycin, rifampicin, and other medicines that affect the liver or heart rhythm.
How to Use Canesten Oral Capsule

Swallow one capsule (150mg) with water, with or without food.

Most people feel improvement within 1-3 days.

If no improvement after 7 days, or symptoms return within a short time, seek medical advice.

Consider treating a male partner’s external symptoms with clotrimazole cream to reduce re-infection.
Avoid sexual intercourse or use condoms until symptoms settle; thrush treatments can weaken latex.
