Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that lowers stomach acid to relieve heartburn, acid reflux, and GERD, while supporting healing of the oesophagus and stomach lining. Effects build over a few days; some people feel relief sooner.
For active symptom control/short‑term treatment when advised by a clinician.
Typically used for maintenance after symptoms improve. Use only if your prescriber advises.
Take once daily in the morning before food. Swallow tablets whole with water; do not crush or chew. Follow the prescribed duration.
If you miss a dose, take it when remembered unless it’s close to the next dose. Do not double up to make up for a missed dose.
Adults 18+. Do not use if you’re allergic to PPIs or have severe liver disease unless advised. Seek medical advice before use if you have black stools, vomit blood, unexplained weight loss, persistent vomiting, difficulty swallowing, chest pain, or if symptoms persist.
You have known allergy to pantoprazole, or if a clinician has advised against PPIs. Discuss pregnancy or breastfeeding before use.
Interactions may occur with certain antiretrovirals, antifungals, methotrexate, and clopidogrel. Limit alcohol; avoid NSAIDs unless advised. Long‑term therapy may affect magnesium or vitamin B12 levels—monitoring may be needed.
