Orforglipron works by activating the GLP-1 receptor in the body. This action:
Enhances insulin secretion
Reduces the release of glucagon (a hormone that raises blood sugar)
Slows down gastric emptying

These combined effects not only improve blood glucose control in type 2 diabetes, but also lead to effective and sustained weight loss.
According to Eli Lilly’s Phase 3 clinical trial (ACHIEVE-1):
Participants experienced a 7.3 kg average weight loss (approx. 7.9% of body weight)
Blood sugar (HbA1c) levels were reduced by up to 1.6%
Effects were achieved without injections
Side effect profile was similar to other GLP-1 medications
