Suitable for adults aged 18+
For adults aged 18 and over:
Take 1-2 tablets at bedtime with water
New users should start with 1 tablet, increasing to 2 if needed
May be used up to 3 times per week
Do not use for more than 1 week
Seek medical advice if:
Symptoms worsen
There is no bowel movement after 3 days
Abdominal pain persists
Do not use Numark Senna Tablets if you:
Are allergic to Senna or any ingredients
Have a blocked bowel, intestinal obstruction, or narrowing of the gut
Have abdominal pain of unknown cause
Have atony (loss of muscle tone in the bowel)
Have appendicitis, Crohn’s disease, or ulcerative colitis
Are severely dehydrated
Have faecal impaction, rectal bleeding, or unexplained blood in stools
Have already taken a laxative and are still constipated
Have had a sudden change in bowel habits lasting more than 2 weeks
Have kidney or heart failure
Are pregnant or breastfeeding
Are under 12 years of age (unless a healthcare professional advises otherwise)
Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Not for long-term or continuous use.
Senna must not be used for weight loss.
Like all laxatives, senna can cause abdominal cramps or diarrhoea, especially if too high a dose is taken. If side effects become severe or persistent, discontinue use and consult a doctor.
