Essential pilgrimage jabs, certificates & travel advice
Preparing for Hajj or Umrah? MedCare Health Clinic (Preston) provides the mandatory Meningitis ACWY vaccination and certificate, plus all recommended vaccinations and travel health guidance for safe pilgrimage. Same-day appointments, family/group bookings, and rapid documentation available.
What’s required for Hajj & Umrah entry
Meningitis ACWY (mandatory)
Quadrivalent ACWY (conjugate) vaccine required for all pilgrims. Certificate must show vaccine given ≥10 days before arrival and within the last 5 years. We issue the official certificate accepted by Saudi authorities.
Polio (situational requirement)
Pilgrims arriving from or transiting polio-affected countries may need polio vaccination (IPV) 4 weeks–12 months before entry, with proof on an International Certificate. We’ll confirm your need based on your exact itinerary and stopovers.
We verify current guidance (Saudi MOH, NaTHNaC/TravelHealthPro) during your appointment and prepare the documents you need.
Strongly recommended vaccinations for pilgrims
Core health protection
- Influenza (seasonal) – reduces the risk of flu spread in crowded areas.
- COVID-19 – keep primary + boosters up to date as per current advice.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – ensure full immunity due to global outbreaks.
- Td/IPV booster (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Polio) – if due.
Food & water-borne risks
- Hepatitis A – common travel protection.
- Typhoid – for food/water exposure (street food, shared catering).
Blood & body-fluid exposure / long stays
- Hepatitis B – recommended for longer visits, medical procedures, or higher-risk exposure.
Yellow Fever is not required for Saudi Arabia unless arriving from a Yellow Fever risk country; if so, certificate needed. We’ll advise case-by-case.
