Unlike chemical antiseptics, Cutimed Sorbact Hydrogel Dressings do not contain any active chemical agents or preservatives. Instead, they work through a physical hydrophobic interaction that binds and removes bacteria, fungi, and toxins from the wound surface.
Cutimed Sorbact Hydrogel Dressings are coated with DACC (dialkyl carbamoyl chloride) – a hydrophobic fatty acid derivative.
Pathogenic bacteria and fungi also have hydrophobic cell surfaces, so when the dressing comes into contact with the moist wound environment, microorganisms adhere to the DACC-coated fibres and become irreversibly bound.
