At MedCare Health Clinic, you can choose between two types of adrenaline auto-injectors, Jext or EpiPen, for anaphylaxis treatment. This service is suitable for those who have previously been prescribed an adrenaline auto-injector and are familiar with its usage.
Adrenaline auto-injectors provide a dose of adrenaline (epinephrine) to the body, which helps alleviate anaphylaxis symptoms. The adrenaline works to constrict blood vessels and open the airways.
Upon recognizing the initial signs of a severe allergic reaction, follow the auto-injector instructions to inject the device into your outer thigh, penetrating clothing if necessary.
Post-injection, immediately dial 999 and state “anaphylaxis” (“ana-fill-axis”). Hospitalization is required even if symptoms improve, as they may worsen subsequently.
Adopt a lying position with elevated legs. If breathing becomes difficult, sit up but avoid sudden position changes. Lie back down as soon as feasible. Do not stand up, even if prompted by others.
Should symptoms persist after five minutes, use the second auto-injector while awaiting the ambulance.
Additional medicines like antihistamines and inhalers may be administered as necessary.
When uncertain about anaphylaxis If uncertain about experiencing anaphylaxis or if prior reactions have been severe, do not hesitate to use the adrenaline auto-injector.

Ensure proper storage and administration of the adrenaline auto-injector, keeping it away from direct sunlight and at temperatures below 25 °C. Do not refrigerate or freeze.
Regularly check that the solution in the viewing window is clear and colorless, replacing the device if the solution is discolored or contains solid particles.
Be mindful of the expiry date and renew the auto-injector accordingly. In emergencies, an expired auto-injector can be used if no other option is available.
Be thoroughly acquainted with the usage of your prescribed device, as injection techniques may vary across brands.
Frequently review the usage of your adrenaline auto-injector and educate friends, family, and workplace first aiders on its operation. Training videos and trainer pens are available for practice.
